Find out where to get advice and support when someone close to you dies.
Bereavement is a highly personal and often traumatic event. When someone close to you dies, you may need advice and support.
Practical help is available from a funeral director or from your family doctor, but many agencies can also offer more guidance about what happens next and what you need to do. Simply talking to someone sympathetic can be a big help.
You can find out more about registering a death and obtaining a death certificate here.
When you book an appointment to register a death, you will have the option to use our tell us once service to notify all government departments and local council services about the death.
In addition, you may need to close accounts or cancel or change insurance details, subscriptions, agreements, payments or direct debits.
You can use the community directory to find organisations who can support you with your bereavement.
