Find information about Skipton Crematorium.
Skipton Crematorium opened its doors on 11 June 1952 and conducts over 1,000 cremations per year. The Crematorium Chapel is the former unconsecrated chapel.
The crematorium chapel is situated in the heart of Waltonwrays Cemetery in the Craven area with facilities for burials, vaults, and memorial services.
The cemetery is located on Carleton Road, Skipton, BD23 3BT.
Car parking is available in front of the remembrance chapel, and overflow parking is on Carleton Road.
For anyone wishing to conduct historical researches we hold records for all our cremations undertaken from 1952 along with the final resting places of all ashes interred or scattered in Waltonwrays Cemetery.
The chapel houses the book of remembrance, Walton gallery, tree of life, book of condolence and, at Christmas, a memorial tree.
It includes a waiting room and public toilets, with disabled access and baby changing facilities.
The chapel is fully accessible, and seating is available for up to 64 guests with additional standing room and outside speakers.
The lectern is fitted with an induction loop system for the hard of hearing.
The chapel is fitted with two large screens allowing us to show photo tributes. We have the facilities for a single photo to be shown all the way through the service, a slide show of up to 25 photos (with the option for additional photos) or a professional photo tribute where the photos will be timed to fade in and out to a piece of music favoured by the deceased. We also allow family videos to be shown.
We can web cast our services and provide additional access to the recording for up to 28 days later. A DVD can also be provided creating a lasting memory of the service.
We have an online music database with an extensive list of music to choose from.
It also comes with a large selection of hymns and an organ, which can be paired with service books for the congregation to join in with.
Each service has a slot of 40 minutes which includes ten minutes to enter and exit. The chapel runs its first service at 9:10am and the last at 3pm, Monday to Friday. Saturdays are available on request.
